With such a huge subject field it is hoped that the resources below offer some path through the mountain of materials and information available. There are many excellent organisations offering a wealth of learning resources covering more than one period of history or topic, such as the British Museum, the British Library or the Historical Association, and many more offering resources for a specific time or aspect of history, such the Children's University or the Jorvik Viking Centre. All levels are covered here from KS1 to KS4. The topics include: Ancient Civilisations; Anglo-Saxons; Vikings; Victorians; the Titanic; Black History; Suffrage; World War 1; and World War 2, plus many more in the alphabetical list below. In addition, there are some resources for Archaeology, Local History and Family History.

British Library: teaching resources – history

Select History from the subject options. A huge amount of teaching resources for ages 5–7, 7–11, 11–14, 14–16 and 16–18, covering a wealth of themes that includes: Toys and Games; World War 1 and World War 2; Victorian Britain; Health and Hygiene; Colonisation; Propaganda; Georgian Britain; Medieval Living; Magna Carta; The Black Death; The Slave Trade; and many more. Each teaching resource is linked to related online resources. The material included is fantastic and offers a wealth of interest and ideas on the topics. Excellent.

British Museum
