Summary

Management of hospital consists in the analysis of costs and introducing innovative organizational solutions which influence the effective use of human and material resources. Legal regulations concerning the sector are defied by managers and they are shown to be inappropriate for real requirements in hospital management. The authors present the possibilities of making cost accounting modern, with French experience set as an example, which might be introduced with success in Polish hospitals.

Organizational innovations should become a priority for the managers of hospitals. The solutions introduced by the French and also chosen ventures in Polish hospitals are presented in the book. In that aspect, the functioning of endoscopic and one-day surgery wards have been described as constantly developing fields of medicine, highly required in the market. As a result of systemic transformation, privatization of hospitals takes place in Poland therefore this problem is presented in the book as well. The ideas of process management and integrated system of medical information, supporting hospitals functioning have been shown against a background of French hospitals solutions.

Medical professionals are important in the process of health care but often underestimated in publications. Doctors, nurses, midwives, diagnosticians and technicians are directly responsible for the treatment effectiveness, felt by patients thus proper innovative solutions introduced in HR sector should influence the shortening of treatment and improve its effectiveness.

The problems of quality in health care have been also discussed in the publication.
