Summary
Marcelo Kauffman, a brilliant neurogeneticist from Buenos Aires, sent me on December 21, 2018 a web link to alert me of an essay by Kevin Mitchell, an associate professor of genetics and neuroscience at Trinity College Dublin, in Ireland. It attempted to provide an editorial perspective on a series of articles recently published on the genomics of psychiatric disorders. Mitchell, the author of Innate: How the Wiring of Our Brain Shapes Who We Are (Princeton University Press), writes the Wiring the Brain blog, from which his essay was extracted. Kauffman introduced his essay to me by noting, “Surely, some of his arguments will ring true about the reductionist fallacies on which you have focused.”
