BUILDING CONFERENCE MARCH THE 4th 1750/1

Bro. Anton, Hauptmann, Taylor, Vowell, Gussenbauer, Rogers.

Quere Whether the Waterman can bring our Timber from Lynn in good Time. Bro. Rogers says He has talked with his Waterman and we may depend upon it, if the Water permits.

Must speak with the proper Brethren about Employing them for the Carridge of our Matters, so as to be able to depend upon them. Williamson of Thurly, Little of Milton, the 2 Sykes’es, Sinfield. H: Brandon, Speak with them next Sunday.

March 8 Must have a thorough Talk with our Brickmaker to Day and draw up certain Articles for him to sign such as

  • 1) That He shall begin as soon as the Weather permits

  • 2) Shall have 4 Tables and keep to it the whole Time without Interruption unless hinder’d by the Weather

  • 3) Shall do what He Can to get all the Water He Can when it rains.

  • 4) That He shall have 6 Shillings a 1000 reckoning the long 1000s without Bear and Lodging

  • 5) Shall Count them to Us into the Clamp

  • 6) Shall leave £5 in our Hand of his Money and agree to lose it if in the Opinion of 2 impartial Men one chosen by him and the other by Us, and in Case they Cannot agree those 2 to Chuse another, it shall appear that He has been negligent or deficient in his Duty.

[2] Shall have a Lovefeast to Day with the Congregation and to propose to them their Subscribing for the Chapel which We are about to build. Each One to Come to the Table the Men to Bro Vowell and the Sisters to Sister Hauptman and say how much they will subscribe and then read it publickly — They who can give now may, otherwise this Day Month, and those who Cannot pay then are to do it this Day 2 Months or 3 Months. Those who are willing to help us with their Carts and Horses or Otherwise may subscribe what they Can and be paid as Others for their Labour.

Bro Vowell will go to Esquire Hill and talk with him about Leave to dig Stones for burning Lime from the Corporation.
