Summary

I live at the Maltings in Dereham. The trouble is with all the flats here and the housing – nothing is decorated or anything, nothing is getting done. The windows need a lot of work doing and in my eyes, the council don’t seem that bothered. You tell them about things but nothing gets done.

There’s people doing drugs here and I can’t see it changing. It makes me feel scared. The fire alarms went off and I didn’t know until the next morning that someone put something in the microwave and left it on. If there was a fire like Grenfell in London, where all those poor people died, how on earth are you supposed to get out of the building? What are you to do? You can’t jump out of the window, because we’re on the second floor, and if you jump out of the window you’ll hurt yourself. If it’s on fire in the corridor how are you supposed to get out?

I don’t know how the councils and the people in charge are able to get away with this. For me the councils just don’t give a damn, because they don’t seem to want to know – they just think of themselves.

The state of the country is terrible. Don’t even get me started. Theresa May, she gets on my nerves when she goes on. There’s stabbings, murders, fires, she says she’s gonna sort these things. Like Brexit, one minute she’s saying this, and the next another. Like the fire in Grenfell, all those people, all the people in Manchester. This government, this country – it’s just got worse. I quite like Jeremy Corbyn because he’s straight to the point.

I saw a picture on Facebook; there was this girl in London, it was the Royal Wedding – and good luck to them – but there was this girl who was homeless and the police went and moved her along when she wasn’t doing anything wrong. It makes me laugh, because they say they’re going to help the homeless, but what are they doing for them?

In the winter it’s very cold in my flat. My neighbour next door to me, he’s in his sixties and it’s also very cold in his place.
