Your requirements will vary with your observing task and the local weather. For some of the more obscure items I have included a few words of explanation.

Telescope optics assembly in packing case

Tripod

Wedge assembly

12 V 80 Amp-Hr battery

Drive corrector and associated cables

Dew shield

12 V d.c. defroster (for dew control)

Accessory box (cables, tools, telescope assembly bolts)

Eyepiece, filter and camera adapter box

Video kit and accessory box, spare tape (optional if making video observations)

Camera, accessory case, film (optional for photographic observations)

90 mm Maksutov spotting scope (for video or photographic observations)

Flashlight, spare flashlight, batteries, spare batteries

Telescope manual

Observing log

Norton's Star Atlas

Star charts, maps and finder charts for tonight's special

objects

Pen, spare pen

Pocket programmable calculator

Adjustable-height observing chair

Thermometer and wind gauge (occultation reports require this)

WWV radio receiver, spare batteries (for occultation timing)

Video time inserter (for occultations)

Solar filters (if camping for the weekend)

Jacket or sweater, wool observing hat (gloves optional)

Desert boots (rattlesnake resistant)

Spare glasses

Munchy food (check desert survival food and water already in car)

Camp stove, fuel (for making hot chocolate)

Folding lawn chair

Insect repellant and fly swatter

Bathroom tissue, paper towels and hand cleaner packets

Sleeping bag and camping gear (optional)

Astronomy club name badge

Check fuel in vehicle

Tell somebody where I'll be and when I'll return
