The following observation may be of interest.

The unnamed lake shown to be of about 1 km2 area on Sheet 95 (Snæfell) of the 1: 1oo 000 map coverage of Iceland to the west of Eyjabakkajökull and dammed by this glacier and the VatnajökuU was found to be empty on 26 July 1975. Drainage had apparently taken place recently, subglacially, through a tunnel in the west side of Eyjabakkajökull.
