Editor-in-Chief

This first issue of 2020 marks the 30th anniversary of our journal. Following the initiative of Michael Black, the journal evolved to be the preferred outlet of the seed science community at large. The journal also became affiliated with the International Society for Seed Science (ISSS), underlining its leading role in disseminating high-quality seed research.

First at CAB International and since 2006 under the wings of Cambridge University Press, the journal has maintained itself very well amidst an avalanche of new journals, also in the field of plant sciences. Our rigorous peer review remains highly valued among our authors and we continue to help them rather than dismiss them.

In order to underline the broad scope of the journal, I would especially encourage our readers working in the fields of developmental biology, conservation, biodiversity and climate change to submit their work. Of course, the focus of such contributions must be on seed and seed function. We are in the progress of renewing our Editorial Board, in such a way that all disciplines are well covered.

I trust that Seed Science Research will continue to function as the premier journal for the seed science community as it has been in its first 3 decades. We will keep looking for interesting themes for our popular Special Issues, often in conjunction with ISSS sponsored international meetings.

Finally, I look forward to working with and for you. Any ideas and suggestions that may help me in this task are most welcome!
