Photometric and Polarization measures of fainter stars (m > 11) are still very few, especially in the red to infra-red region. In order to exploit large Schmidt cameras to remedy this shortage, improved methods of photographic calibration are needed. This note reviews some of the problems associated with photographic calibration of direct images, and presents a progress report on the development of the ring polarimeter.
