Abstract

Through the systematic addition of B, and Fe, additive effects on the stacking fault formation and the morphology of the formed particles during synthetic reaction of β-SiC were investigated in the present study. Stacking fault density of the synthesized powders decreased with increasing content of added B and Fe. Whisker content of the synthesized powders and formation mechanism of whiskers are the most closely related to the stacking fault density.
