Equivalence relations in diffraction theory

Abstract

Certain equivalence relationships between different problems occurring in diffraction theory are established. The method used is essentially Schwarz's principle of analytic continuation by reflexion across a straight boundary. An explicit solution is also obtained by this method for a plane wave normally incident on a T-shaped structure.
