The neuston net A device for sampling the surface fauna of the ocean

Extract

An apparatus for sampling the fauna of the uppermost 10 cm of the sea is described. The net is designed to fish at speeds of 5–6 knots in undisturbed water to one side of a ship. A preliminary account is given of the catches made with the net in the Indian Ocean.
