p. 216 line 18: For ‘international’ read ‘internal’.

p. 220 lines 26 – 30: ‘The last part of his book …go along with Haji Agus Salim or Mohammed Roem’ should read as follows: ‘The last part of his book is, of course, the most interesting: his meetings with, on the Dutch side, Van Mook, whom he respected highly but with whom he could not go along when the Dutch slid down into the so-called “police-actions”, or, on the Indonesian side, Haji Agus Salim or Mohammed Roem”.
