page 222 note 1 Mr. Hope Bowdler of Oxford, the owner of these, has kindly allowed us to examine them. They include Augustus (3), Nero (1, copper), Otho (1), Vespasian (3), Domitian (1), Nerva (2), Trajan (1), Hadrian (4), Pius (6, one copper), Faustina I (2), Marcus (2), Verus (1), Faustina II (2), Severus (3), Geta (1), Macrinus (1), Sev. Alexander (4), Julia Mamaea (1), Balbinus (i), Decius (i), Gallienus (i), Saloninus (i), Valens (i), Honorius (i); in all 43 silver and 2 copper. There is also a Samian bowl, Drag. 67, probably South Gaulish and Flavian. It will be seen that the composition of this collection makes it difficult to regard it as an ordinary hoard.

page 243 note 1 Numbers 1-16 are newly discovered or else so far as I can find, hitherto unpublished; nos. 17-23 are new information about old inscriptions, important enough to be worth including.—R. G. C.
