As has been intimated individually to those who have helped this Survey, it has been arranged that the conduct and administration of the work shall become the responsibility of Her Majesty’s Government. The Survey has, for the time being, served its purpose so far as its glaciological aspects are concerned, but it is very desirable that the data obtained by the Society should not he interrupted, as these will be of continuing value year by year to the meteorologists.

It has therefore been agreed by the Director of the Meteorological Office that future reports of the Survey, which will continue to be compiled on a voluntary basis, shall appear under the auspices of the Meteorological Office, Air Ministry. They will therefore no longer appear in this Journal.

The thanks of the Society must go to the many who have contributed to the success and growing recognition of the Survey—to Professor G. Manley, who with Mr. L. C. W. Bonacina initiated it in 1938, and particularly to Messrs. E. L. Hawke and D. L. Champion who have conducted it so ably for the last seven years.
