Some aspects of the stochastic model for the attachment of phages to bacteria

Recently Gani (1965) has considered a stochastic model for the attachment of phages to bacteria. In this paper we study some of the basic properties of this model. These results will be used in a subsequent paper dealing with the estimation of the parameter which occurs in this model.
