Extract

A continuous cattle census scheme was started in the Central Province of Nyasaland in 1943, and data thus accumulated on the calving rate of native cattle form the basis of this paper.

The system of animal management prevailing in the area is described, and meteorological data collected at Lilongwe over 3 years are also given.
