1 As a result of the amendment to Article 23 of the United Nations Charter under General Assembly Resolution 1991 A (XVIII) of December 17, 1963, the membership of the Security Council was increased from eleven to fifteen with the addition of four nonpermanent seats.

2 Elected to a two-year term by the General Assembly during its 1392nd plenary meeting.

3 In order to fill the additional four nonpermanent seats on the Council and in accordance with Article 23, paragraph 2, of the Charter as amended, the General Assembly during its 1392nd and 1393rd plenary meetings, held on December 10 and 13, 1965, decided by secret ballot that New Zealand and Uganda would serve for a period of one year and that Japan and Nigeria would serve for a period of two years.

4 As a result of the amendment to Article 61 of the UN Charter under General Assembly Resolution 1991 B (XVIII) of December 17, 1963, the membership of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) was increased from eighteen to 27.

5 Elected or reelected to a three-year term by the General Assembly during its 1396th plenary meeting, December 15, 1965.

6 In order to fill the additional nine seats on ECOSOC and in accordance with Article 61, paragraph 3, of the Charter as amended, the General Assembly during its 1396th and 1403rd plenary meetings, held on December 15 and 18, 1965, decided by the drawing of lots that Greece, Sierra Leone, and Tanzania would serve for a period of one year; Cameroun, Dahomey, and India for a period of two years; and Iran, Morocco, and Venezuela for a period of three years.

7 Reelected to a three-year term by the General Assembly during its 1400th plenary meeting, December 17, 1965.

8 Members of the International Court are elected to nine-year terms by the General Assembly and the Security Council voting concurrently. Judges's terms of office expire on February 5 of the year listed. Officers serve three-year terms ending in 1967. Judges are listed in order of precedence.

9 Elected on November 16, 1965, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Judge Abdel Hamid Badawi (United Arab Republic).

10 At its 1067th plenary meeting on November 28, 1961, the General Assembly elected 25 members of the International Law Commission to five-year terms commencing on January 1, 1962. Officers are elected at each annual session.

26 In accordance with the terms of General Assembly Resolution 2029 (XX) of November 22, 1965, ECOSOC elected the 37 members of the UNDP Governing Council during its 1398th meeting, held on November 23, 1965.
