The Africa-wide Biological Control Programme of cassava mealybug, Phenacoccus manihoti, and cassava green mite, Mononychellus tanajoa, (ABCP) was started by the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) in Ibadan in early 1980 following the request of several African countries for help in solving this disastrous pest problem.
