Research on the migration of oriental armyworm in China and a discussion of management strategy

Abstract

Mythimna separata, the oriental armyworm, is a major agricultural pest of China. Five breeding regions are colonized successively by each generation of moths during the course of the year as a result of long-range migration. Three regions are colonized from south to north of China during the first half of the year and two in the second half of the year, possibly from north to south. The regularity of the seasonal displacements of the armyworm populations are an important basis for forecast and control. This paper presents a summary of research on migration of the oriental armyworm in China and discusses management strategies for this pest.

Résumé

Le Mythimna separata, un insecte capable à un grand vol, est un des principaux insectes nuisibles dans l'agriculture chinoise. L'explication sur la règle de vol rèste l'importante base pour le pronostic et le plan de contrôle. Le present article analyse sommairement le ŕesultat des importantes études sur l'émigration des insectes dans le passé et depuis ces dernières années. Ce qui concerne: l'exemple réel de la phénomeme de vol à la longue distance, de laquelle la réception des insectes adultes colorés, l'observation de l'émigration à la mer Po Hai, la jonction et la comparaison de date et de nombre des insectes, qui ont lieu chaque année dans les régions; la diffusion du vol saisonnier regulier et 5 fois de vol pendant une année dans les regions; à l'emploi de mulin au vol pour mesurer le différent âge des papillons de nuit, et la capacité de vol des insectes adultes à la condition de courrent mosphèrique, de la lumière et de l'alimentation; la relation entre la condition mosphèrique et l'emigration et l'étude sur le courrent mosphèrique et la tendance de l'émigration au mois de mai et juin; l'application de radar des insectes pour mesurer la hauteur, la densité, la direction et le chiffre des insectes adultes qui emigrent dans le Nord-Est.

Selon l'éxplication sur le vol saisonnier de l'année qui forme la tendance du développement des troupes des insectes qui se règnent 5 fois dans les regions, le pronostic de production, la precaution et le pratique. On désigne qu'il faut prendre la précaution contre le désastre des insectes qui ont lieu pendant la seconde et la troisième fois.
