25 The term, mestizo, has no easy definition. It means far more than simply miscegenation or multiculturalism, since it can also have moral and political implications. Positive usage stresses anti-colonialism or rejection of race-separation, but, as in Mexico, moves beyond that to the ethno-social integration associated with nation-building.
