* I prefer here to keep the spelling ‘Capodistrias’ (with a final ‘s’) which he and his contemporaries most commonly used in French after he gave up writing ‘Capo d'Istria’, rather than the transliteration from Greek ‘Kapodistrias’ (used by Dakin) or the form ‘Capodistria’ used by Woodhouse and St Clair, although admittedly ‘Capodistria's name’ reads more elegantly than ‘C (K) apodistrias's name’. The B.M. Catalogue has ‘Capodistrias – see Kapodistrias’, but not Capodistria.
