Coronavirus

For manuscripts describing COVID-19 and coronavirus-related publications, please see below and the section marked Accepted Manuscripts. We are also expediting the peer review and publication process for COVID-19 papers.

  • Authors should share important information with public health authorities. We encourage all authors to share all data about the 2019-nCoV outbreak in confidence with the World Health Organization. The WHO is asking that going forward submissions/pre-prints be sent to covid19preprint@who.int
  • Authors are encouraged to post submitted relevant manuscripts under review to bioRxiv, medRxiv or other relevant pre-print server.
  • Article Processing Charges (APCs) are being waived for accepted papers until end of December 2020.

The Press plays a global role in education and research and shares the University’s mission to contribute to society through our work. Sharing research can play an important role in tackling shared threats. As such, we have created a special collection of free to read articles and book chapters related to the coronavirus that will be continually updated as new research becomes available https://www.cambridge.org/core/browse-subjects/medicine/coronavirus-free-access-collection

Manuscripts describing COVID-19 and coronavirus-related publications will be published as Accepted Manuscripts online immediately following acceptance, allowing authors to make their work available to read and cite much more quickly. More information about Accepted Manuscripts can be found below.

What version of the article will be published?

The version of the article that is accepted by the Editor will be converted to PDF format and published online as is, before copy-editing or typesetting. The Accepted Manuscript will eventually be replaced with the final copy-edited and typeset Version of Record.

When will the Accepted Manuscript be published?

We aim to publish the Accepted Manuscript within a 24 - 48 hours, provided we have received all final files and a completed license to publish form.

Can I opt out of Accepted Manuscript publication?

Authors wishing to opt out of Accepted Manuscript publication must contact the Editorial Office before acceptance and no later than 24 hours after acceptance.

What happens if I want to make changes to my Accepted Manuscript?

You will still be able to make corrections to typographical errors in your proofs in the usual way, which will be incorporated into the final Version of Record. Proofs will be sent to you around two weeks after acceptance.

How can I cite my Accepted Manuscript?

Your manuscript may be cited using its DOI, and citations should indicate that it is not the final version.

What licence will the Accepted Manuscript be published under?

A Creative Commons licence CC BY-NC-ND https://creativecommons.org/li... will be applied to all Accepted Manuscripts published in Gold journals. If a different license has been chosen for the final publication, this will be applied once the Accepted Manuscript has been replaced by the Version of Record.
