Viabilidad de la farmacoterapia en trastornos del espectro afectivo relacionados con el VIH: un ensayo abierto con fluvoxamina

Resumen

En un estudio abierto, evaluamos la viabilidad de utilizar un antidepresivo serotoninérgico (fluvoxamina) entre pacientes con VIH tratados por trastornos adaptativos, depresivos mayores y otros trastornos afectivos relacionados con el SIDA. Se realizó el seguimiento de 35 pacientes seropositivos (22 hombres y 13 mujeres) con las condiciones anteriores durante un periodo mínimo de cuatro semanas. Al final del tratamiento, un gran número de pacientes (77%) mostraba una mejoría acusada. Los síntomas “nucleares” depresivos y de ansiedad remitieron, mientras que los “somáticos” parecían menos sensibles al tratamiento. El tratamiento tuvo que ser interrumpido prematuramente debido a efectos secundarios en sólo dos pacientes (6%).
