High Contrast Imaging for Active Galactic Nuclei Studies

  • Claude Aime, Rémi Soummer and A. Bijaoui (a1)

Abstract

In this communication, the general properties of AGNs are first reviewed: history, classification, model and unification. The contribution of direct optical imaging is thus discussed. A HST image is taken into example showing the observational limitations near the center. The interest of high contrast imaging is then discussed.
