Abstract

Although ground-based submm facilities have been operating since more than a decade now, very few information has been collected at the lower frequencies offered by Herschel. Additional observations need to be conducted prior to launch to assess the reliability of a given source to be used as calibrator for photometry and/or spectroscopy. In this paper we present some of the drivers for the preparation of such a database on the basis of pioneering and long-term observing campaigns.
