* To our shocked dismay and the plant-loving world's great loss, our brother Oleg died suddenly in the night of 1 July 1985—after our receipt of this review in which the present tense is accordingly retained. His illustrated Guide to the Vegetation of Britain and Europe is due out this year, and it is expected that further, unfinished works will be completed by devotees for later publication. —Ed.
