A NEW SPECIES OF BASILIA (DIPTERA: NYCTERIBIIDAE) FROM COLOMBIA

Abstract

Basilia astochia new species is described from Colombia, from Vampyrops helleri Peters. It is closely related to B. ferrisi Sch. Stekh. and B. speiseri (Mir. Ribeiro) from which it differs in details of the shape and chaetotaxy of the legs, tergal plates, and sternites. These three species probably form a very closely linked "Artenkreis" occurring from Guatemala to Brazil, Paraguay, and Peru.

Desde Colombia se ha descrito la presencia de la nueva especie Basilia astochia en el Vampyrops helleri. Está íntimamente relacionado con el B. ferrisi y el B. speiseri, de los que difiere en detalles de la forma y disposición de las setas de las patas, terguitos y esternitos. Probablemente estas très especies forman un "Artenkreis" (grupo de especies que se substituyen por orden geográfico) muy íntimo que se extiende desde Guatemala hasta Brasil, Paraguay y el Perú.
