MORPHOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS FOR DIFFERENTIATING LARVAL INSTARS OF LEATHERJACKETS, TIPULA PALUDOSA (DIPTERA: TIPULIDAE)

Abstract

Measurements of head capsule lengths and widths show that Tipula paludosa Meig. larvae have four instars. The shape and size of the mandibles and labia are good characters for differentiating the instars.
