HIMACERUS APTERUS (FABRICIUS), A EURASIAN NABIDAE (HEMIPTERA) NEW TO NORTH AMERICA: DIAGNOSIS, GEOGRAPHICAL DISTRIBUTION, AND BIONOMICS

Abstract

The Eurasian nabid Himacerus apterus (Fabricius) is reported for the first time for North America. Several individuals have been collected between 1943 and 1989 in eastern Nova Scotia. Generic and specific diagnoses are given, and the genus is inserted in Slater and Baranowski’s (1978) key to the genera of North American Nabidae. The geographical distribution and bionomics of the species are briefly discussed.

L’auteure rapporte la présence du Nabide eurasien Himacerus apterus (Fabricius) pour ia première fois en Amérique du Nord. Plusieurs individus de cette espèce ont fait l’objet de récoltes entre 1943 et 1989 dans l’est de la Nouvelle-Ecosse. L’auteure présente les diagnoses du genre et de l’espèce et insère le genre dans le tableau de détermination de Slater et Baranowski (1978) des genres de Nabtdae d’Amérique du Nord. L’auteure discute brièvement de la répartition géographique et de la bionomie de l’espèce.
