Close up from ‘The Other in Mother’ by artist Sarah Greaves

Commissioned by the Arts and Health charity Arc, the exhibition has toured various

    galleries including Manchester Art Gallery.

The Other in Mother is an installation that explores the psychological transition women experience in becoming mothers. Research included interviews with perinatal professionals and new mothers as well as a social media campaign that saw over 60 women from all over the world upload objects and stories about their own ‘maternal transition’. Greaves created a large immersive installation of manipulated objects representing the diverse experiences of new mothers.
