Summary

HAAKE or HAACK (Carl) was born at Potsdam in 1757, and was appointed, about the year 1790, first violin and chapelmaster to the royal chapel in Berlin. The following are among his compositions: “Six Sets of Violin Concertos,” published at Berlin between the years 1791 and 1797. “Three grand Sonatas for the Piano-forte,” Berlin, 1793.

HAAKE or HAACK, (Friederich) the younger brother of the preceding, is an organist at Stettin. He has published “Concerto pour le Clav.” Op.l; “Three Trios pour le Clav.” Op. 5; “Three Trios pour le Clav.” Op. 6. F. Haake is a celebrated pianist, and was a pupil in counterpoint of Fasch.

HAASS, (Ignaz) a celebrated organist and composer at Koniggratz, in Germany. He published at Vienna, in 1797, “Variazoni sopra l'Andante in A dur del Sig. Mozart.”.

HAASS, (Pat. Ildefonis) a librarian and monk in Germany, was born at Offenbach in 1735. He was an excellent theorist, composer, and violinist. He died in 1791. Haass's publications are chiefly for the church.

HABENECK, (F. A.) There are three brothers of this name, all of them violinists. F. A. Habeneck is the eldest, and was adjunct and one of the best violin pupils of Baillot, at the conservatory at Paris. He was afterwards adjunct with Kreutzer for solo playing, at the imperial academy of music. He has published, at Paris, three fantasies for the violin, which are much esteemed. Joseph and Corentin Habeneck (his brothers) were likewise pupils of the conservatory, and of Baillot's class, and both performed, with great success, concertos on the violin, at the concerts given by that institution.
