Summary

Here are listed the main entry forms that are found in GDB. Minor variations, especially where postscriptal, are not generally noted. Nor is the diplomatic of the king's chapters outside Yorkshire. Throughout the text the terra regis exhibits its own formulas without any discernible overall sequence within the series or continuity with the body of the text. The characteristic is a function of the collection of the data within the shire in the initial stage of the Domesday inquest. For a full discussion of the various forms and how they relate to each other, see DIB, chapter 8.
