In Lincolnshire History and Archaeology i (1966), 29–32 Mr M. Todd published an article entitled ‘Roman Stamped Tiles from Lincoln and their Origin’. It deals with a good forty stamped tiles which were found in the area of the colonia Lindum or in its immediate vicinity, mostly in the primary walling of a bath-building of the original colonia. The stamps consist of four letters in relief, LVL followed by an A, D, E or F, within a plain, oblong cartouche. On several stamps the letters are separated by very faint traces of stops.
