Call for Papers: APA Newsletter on Feminism and Philosophy—Generations of Feminisms. As the first generation of Second Wave feminists nears retirement, we find shifts in the meaning of feminism, as well as changes in feminist theory and practice and increasing emphasis upon the diversity of feminisms. We invite reflections upon the succession of feminist approaches to philosophy. Essays should be no longer than ten pages, double spaced and prepared according to APA guidelines. Four copies should be submitted with the author's name on the title page only. The deadline for submission is June 1, 1995. Call for Papers: Re-reading the Canon: Feminist Interpretations of Kierkegaard. Papers are sought for a volume covering a wide range of feminist approaches to Kierkegarrd's writings. Papers addressing the following works would e especially welcome: The Concept of Irony, Either/Or, Repetition, Two Ages, Works of Love, and The Concept of Anxiety. Questions that might be addressed include: Are Kierkegaard's socially inherited prejudices concerning women independent from this philosophical framework? How do gender categories function in Kierkegaard's thought? How does Hierkegaard understand the relation between the sexes? What is Kierkegaard's position on the emancipation of women, sexual difference, and sexual dquality? Does Kierkegaard have anything to offer to feminist thought? Welfare is a Feminist Issue: New York-based Welfare Reform Network is attempting to put a face on the welfare debate by collecting “recipient resumes.” We need to let the nation understand that many AFDC recipients have worked, want to work hard, and need welfare benefits to move out of poverty. Among our own ranks, academics, administrators, graduate and undergraduate students, there are many who have had to rely on this safety net. If you have ever “been on welfare” or know students or colleagues who have, now is the time to urge all to come out of the closet.
