We laughed and laughed,
For hours and hours,
Until our smiles creased
From end to end,
Like arrows waiting to be released

We shared a laugh
That accounted for the past
Thirty years
Of missed laughter,
Due to work shifts and cleaning dishes

Because even though we were living,
We were trapped in our mundane bubble,
And we never connected
Until our last moments together
