* A Lonely Ski-Trail is featured (with Matti Lehtinen as speaker) on a disc of Sibelius's string-orchestra works by the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra under Juha Kangas (Finlandia 4509 98995–2), which appeared a couple of months ahead of the BIS version. The same disc includes the recorded premiere of The Countess's Portrait with the recitation (Lilga Kovanko), which is omitted by BIS. (Ed.)

* Hopkins's basic text is the edition of Gulistan prepared in 1990–93 by Marc-André Hamelin (available to order from The Sorabji Archive, Eastern Dene, Bailbrook Lane, Bath BA1 7AA), but modified by what he terms ‘variae lectiorus of the composer's at times barely legible manuscript’.

The BBC recording of the late John Ogdon's performance of the Concerto (1967) has recently been released on Carlton's BBC Radio Classics series (15656 91762).

1 The published score has the title as Intolleranza in error: the piece was always called Intolleranza 1960 (or Intolleranza 1970 in the revised version).

2 Incidentally, the underlay of the text is substantially different (and improved) in the recorded performance relative to the published score: there is no indication whether these changes took place under Nono's supervision.
