Seed Science Research, the official journal of the International Society for Seed Science, is a leading gold open access international journal featuring high-quality original papers and review articles on the fundamental aspects of seed science, reviewed by internationally distinguished editors. The emphasis is on the physiology, biochemistry, molecular biology and ecology of seeds.
Article Types
The journal accepts the following article types:
Short Communication
A short communication gives a brief report of research findings adequate for the journal's scope and of particular interest to the community. Maximum length: 2,000 words.
Methods Paper*
Methods papers provide details of methods in general use in seed science, or novel cutting edge experiments with the potential to advance the field. Generally articles should not exceed 3000 words for the main text (excluding references).
Research Paper*
A research paper is an original piece of research with strong, well-supported conclusions that mark a significant advance in understanding. The text should be divided into the following sections: introduction, methods, results and discussion, while these latter two may be combined if the topic requires so. Maximum length: 8,000 words.
Research Opinion
A Research Opinion should present a response to previously published research and usually offers constructive criticism of the strengths and weaknesses of a hypothesis or scientific theory. Maximum length: 1,000 words.
Technical Update
A Technical Update presents new insights, amendments and/or modifications of an existing method or protocol in seed science. Maximum length: 1,500 words.
Review Paper*
Reviews provide a comprehensive assessment of a particular topic or research area. They may provide interdisciplinary syntheses and can provide conclusions and insights relevant to future research, methodology or societal implications. Maximum length: 8,000 words.
The journal also publishes Editorials and Obituaries.
