The Committee for Undergraduate Middle East Studies (CUMES) promotes and shares best practices in teaching and learning in Middle East Studies, including areas such as pedagogy, course design, curriculum development, assessment, instructional technologies, and educational/study abroad opportunities in the MENA region.

The CUMES Undergraduate Research Workshop and Poster Session was established in 2013. Every year, we bring together around 16 undergraduate students for a private presentation session, professional development sessions, and a public poster session open to all MESA attendees. The students’ work is often innovative and reflects the future of the field. Each year, it is an energizing part of the MESA program. If you have not yet put it on your calendar for Montreal, please come out and support our undergraduates on November 2, 2023 from 4-5 pm and see the wonderful research being done by the next generation of Middle East scholars.
