The Quantitative Plant Biology Hofmeister Review Series is named in honor of Wilhelm Hofmeister (1824-1877), a largely self-taught botanist who introduced the field to analytic approaches, at the borders between biology, physics and mathematics. Hofmeister studied various aspects of plant biology, from cell division to phyllotaxis, motion, tropism and life cycles. In the footsteps of such a vibrant legacy, Hofmeister reviews are to be written by inspiring scientists and aim at providing authoritative and thought-provoking surveys on a subject relating to quantitative plant biology. This is an opportunity for contemporary thinkers to expose new theory and/or seminal concepts building on their own record. Hofmeister reviews are invited reviews only.
