page 213 note * In the Archæologia, Vol. X. p. 111, is an account by Hayman Rooke, Esq F.S.A. of the opening of a barrow at Aspatria in Cumberland. The remains appeared to be Anglo-Saxon or Danish; but on one of the cobble stones that formed the cist were circles and crosses cut apparently in the same style as those mentioned above. These circles may, however, have been on the stone before it was used for the wall of the cist.
