page 487 note § Cornelius Vermuyden was a Zealander, the son of Giles Vermuyden and his wife Sarah, daughter of Cornelius Wordendyko. He was knighted by Charles I. 6th January, 1629. Hunter, South Yorks. i. 160. His son Cornelius was a Colonel in the Army of the Parliament. Shortly before the battle of Naseby he threw up his commission “in regard of some special occasions which he said he had to draw him beyond seas.” Sprigg, Anglia Rediviva, ed. 1854, p. 32.
