About the Review
The National Institute Economic Review has been published quarterly since 1959 and has a wide circulation in all parts of the world. Each issue contains a general survey of the current economic situation and prospects in Britain, in Europe and in the world. The Institute’s econometric model of the world economy is used by the British Treasury, the Bank of England, the Banque de France, the Banca d’Italia, the OECD and the ECB together with other business, governmental and academic institutions.
Each issue includes a number of notes and special articles, some of them reporting the results of the Institute’s own research. In recent years there has been extensive coverage of topics related to macroeconomics, productivity comparisons, financial instability, training and education, and European integration.
The Review welcomes contributions from researchers, especially those in areas related to the Institute’s own programme.
The Review is published in the first week of February, May, August and November and final versions of articles (after any changes/additions required by referees) are required about 6–8 weeks beforehand (i.e. for the February Review this would mean mid-November, for May mid-March and so on). First drafts should be submitted approximately 8 weeks before that to allow for refereeing and updating.
