Abstract

The influence of polymethylmetacrylate on the rheological and structural characteristics of zirconia sols was analyzed by shear stress versus shear rate measurements, quasi elastic light scattering and infrared spectra. The thickness of coated film determined by profilometry increases linearly with the relative volume of PMMA. The addition of PMMA led to the polycondensation reaction and the formation and growth of zirconia particles.
