Abstract

Time-resolved femtosecond pump and probe experiments were conducted on films and solutions of poly (para-phenylene)-type ladder-homopolymers featuring a high degree of intrachain order. We find photobleaching, stimulated emission and photoinduced absorption. The spectral separation of stimulated emission and photoinduced absorption makes this polymer a promising candidate for a solid state laser.
