Abstract

We solve the transport equations for diffusion-reaction, in the limit of a small O2 pressure gradient, in a mixed oxygen ion-electronic conductor (MIEC) solid oxide membrane consisting of a porous anode and cathode separated by a thin dense layer. The enhancement in ion current due to the porous electrodes calculated for MIEC perovskites is of order 100 for electrode surface area of 106 cm2/cm3.
