Extract

Since their discovery last yearf[1], the high Tc super-conductors have been the subject of intense investigation. Most researchers have studied the material as ceramics--sintered masses of randomly oriented grains of the material. The materials, however, are anisotropie, so measurements made on ceramic pellets only result in averages over the crystallographic directions.
