6 Wider Relationships of the Issaquena Phase

Published online by Cambridge University Press:  10 April 2023

Extract

In this section we shall attempt to see how the Issaquena phase fits into the larger context of eastern North American prehistory. We will begin in the west, then proceed eastward along the Gulf coast to Florida. Evidence of relationships with the Tennessee Valley will then be discussed, followed by a consideration of the Ohio Valley relationships, and those of the eastern Great Lakes areas. Then the Illinois Valley materials will be cited, followed by the related finds in Wisconsin, the Missouri Valley, and Oklahoma.
