I am grateful for the support during the past year of the Department of English at Carnegie Mellon University. Our long-time copy editor Jane McGary retired in March, and I was lucky to hire Audra Starcheus to replace her. Jane edited the first two issues of Volume 39, Jane and Audra edited 39(3), and Audra edited the final two issues of this volume. I am very grateful to both.

Editorial Assistant Jennifer Andrus left the journal at the end of July to take a job as Assistant Professor of Writing and Rhetoric at the University of Utah. Her successor is Mark Thompson, a Ph.D. candidate in Rhetoric at Carnegie Mellon University. Mark is a discourse analyst who is interested in how individuals and institutions interact. I am very fortunate to have such wonderful helpers.
