I take occasion, in this context, to supply an omission in my notes to Hyginus, fab. 136, 1, where I leave unexplained the expression monstrum … si quis soluerit. The Greek must have been τέρας … ἐάν τις λύσῃ, cf. Cumont, p. 161, for the professional σημειολύται or interpreters of portents.
